Midsummer on Wasa's trail

Dear Members,

following our Mediterranean experiences of the last few years
and in response to requests from our members
this year’s Fly-In will take us to Sweden

from Thursday, 23rd to Sunday, 26th June 2005.

Destination Airport is Eskilstuna, approx. 40 NM west of Stockholm.

Our Hotel, Castle Sundbyholm, is charmingly located between the woods and the water on a small hill on Lake Mälar with its own beach and marina.

On our day of arrival there will be a surprise dinner in the Castle’s medieval cellar.

On the Friday we will be celebrating Midsummer Night, perhaps the most Swedish of Holidays. The traditional greeting is “Trevlig Midsommar“ („Happy Midsummer“) and all are merry.

Traditionally, unmarried maidens collect seven different flowers and put these under their pillow this night.

Then they will dream of their future husband.

On Saturday there will be a full-day’s excursion to Stockholm. There we will be visiting, among other things, the Vasa Museum and the world’s only surviving 17th Century ship, the Vasa. This is a unique treasure and one of the most important historical attractions in the world.

Our Gala Dinner will also be on the Saturday at Gripsholms Värdshus, the oldest inn in Sweden. This 17th Century guesthouse was where the present King and Queen celebrated their Silver Wedding – far and wide the best address. The Värdshus was built in 1609 opposite Castle Gripsholm on the foundations of an old Karthusian convent.

Dear Members, we would like to invite you to join us. The full programme is attached.

The cost for each member and partner is just € 472,-- per person.
Non-members pay € 640,-- per person.

The price covers the cost of everything listed in the programme.

For obvious reasons, the lower fee is only available to members and their partners.

Rooms will be allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis – i.e. the first to register will get the best rooms (suites)!

Please ensure that your registration reaches us before 23rd May, 2005!
(the rooms are only being held until this date)

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!

With best wishes,

Wilhelm Schröer
